Building a 125g sump for a 210g display
I am going to up grade my tank and use my old 125g as a sump. Do you guys have any opinions on how to do this right now i have a 55g. It is setup so the two 1" drains dump on too a 50 micron pad then to a 100 micron and out the botom where it passes over not through carbon. Then to the return pump half goest to the tank and the other half goes to a 30g refugium that gravity drains back to the display. I never really finished the whole thing. The new on will have to be all containd in the stand. So the refugium will have to be in the sump. I will be running a carbon and phospate reactor. I want this one to be perfect any suggestions would be great.

Do you think i would be better off using the 55g and redoing it? It would be nice to have some room for the other stuff under there to? but can i fit a mechanical filltration a refugium a proten skimmer and a return pump in a 55g?

cory, I dont see why you cant do both in one sump(filter/refugium). anytime you can have more water in the system, the better off you are. no major changes in water quality. just make a drawing of how you want the water to "move" through the sump. then figure out how how you want to create the different chambers(glass tank..use glass) then take some measurements and go to a glass cutter. it shouldnt be too much for smaller pieces.
