Macro help!

While I had 2 reef tanks prior, this is my first time using a fuge. I initially purchased some macro algae and was told to get some cheato if possible. Got the cheato which took over the fuge. I pulled the macro and put it in the display tank. Was this a mistake? I haven't yet found difinitive info one way or the other. Thanks for your help.

Yes, only because it's going to take up space and look unsightly, and shed little fonds throughout your tank.
