MarinePure Ceramic Biomedia

I prefer a more open aquascape, and don't have a ton of live rock in my DT. I have a few rock fragments in my sump. I just learned (I'm a newbie) about ceramic biomedia. Here's some they sell on BRS:

It appears that this would allow me to keep a more open aquascape while maximizing filtration. My livestock plan will also be pushing the limits for my tank size, so I was thinking this could help control things.

Worth it? Is the plate or the spheres better?

Just so you are aware: there is a thread here on RC with this media.
It concerns aluminum leaching, no real definite answers just yet but there are concerns.
That said, I run the block in my sump & feel this gives the max amount of filtration.

I did see that thread. I am considering a few spheres, just to supplement my LR a little. So I wouldn't be adding too much. Thanks for the input.
