Avast Marine Barrel Tender

Anybody here using it? If so how do you like it? Is it trustworthy?

I have not own this unit, but am concerned about TDS creep effect with setup like this, initial surge of high TDS water needed to be flushed out before water is filtered by DI.

Being that its the "barrel" tender which would imply more than a small ATO.. any TDS will be highly diluted and won't be a problem..
MY ATO is 16G and I never worry about purging when filling.. ATO water reads zero TDS..

And to the OP.. Avast is a good company that I'd trust.. Never used that product though.. Nor have I seen any reviews or problems.

If it works as designed then i wont mind spending the money for it. If it doesnt work then im going to be ****ed. Lol. Still thinking about putting an extra emergency float switch on it just in case. I have a small one just laying around. I wanted it to basically be plug and play so i never have to worry about having rodi water on hand. I also didnt want to worry about TDS creep. Hopefully it works as designed and all i will have to do is monitor pressure and tds to change filters when needed.

Looks like a typical quality product from Avast (I'm a fan too). Of course, you can accomplish something similar if you have an Apex with a couple of float switches and a solenoid valve.

I've had mine for a month. Set it and forget it. I added a secondary safety with a float valve as I'm paranoid. The unit fires every week and half making almost 10g at a time. I did see some TDS creep but I pretty much fixed it by adding an auto flush valve to my rodi setup. When the solenoid on my barrel tender turns on the drop in pressure turns on my feed water solenoid and booster pump and also flushes the system for 18 seconds before starting to make rodi.

I like the way you doubled up the capacity by plumbing those two 5 gallon buckets together. What a great idea!

Thanks it really beats fancy ATO containers if you have the space. Adding extra 5gs to the setup is as cheap as $5 for a bucket and a uniseal.
