this is pretty neat...i wonder what if any effects the newly formed gases will have on the tank's parameters?

do you monitor your ORP Paul? does it change when you boil up some mojano soup? how about when you boil up a bunch of mojano soup?

does the skimmer go absolutely nuts?

anyone know of any other tests that can be performed to monitor the water parameters/ quality?

Mr Maroonsalty, thanks but those would be too thin. The graphite I am using from carpenters pencils works fine. I am not going to mass produce these things or I would need a large supply.
Nanoreefwanabe, I do monitor my ORP but I did not notice it change and there is no change in the skimmer operation.
I also don't test any other water parameters, I go by the look of the animals and they are all good. I doubt this small amount of gasses would effect anything in 100 gallons.

They are quite beefy much bigger around than rectangular carpenter pencil leads, about medium fat crayon diameter. This is a fun looking contraption.

OK then that size would be perfect, I will look into it.
Thanks

If you are going to use heliarc rods, sharpen them and only expose about 1/4" of the tip in the water. If too much electrode is in the water the gas will bot be concentrated on the tip where you want it.
You can cover the rest of it with shrink tubing

I was thinking of using that plastic dip they use for tool handles! It sticks very well to stainless in tools I have fabricated in the past. This is truly a brilliant idea you've had here for people with big invasions.

Personally I have never had majanos and I have been on a perpetual search for a way to propagate aptasia quicker since I keep bergia nudis, the thread just caught my eye and I can really see myself using this in the future on some bothersome pest.

Seems two car batteries in series would be the best way to power this, but I would recommend a fuse or better yet, a autoreset breaker along with the lightbulb. I am sure you have seen a direct short with 100 amps of DC potential on #10. Not everyone reading this has experience with electricity....

Two batteries wired like this would kill a herd of elephants. You could do this with a 12volt lantern battery or a cell phone charger. Don't get crazy

This is 14 volts DC.
When the bubbles get to the top, you can hear OOOOOOOOOOCCCCHHH

OK Paul, your experiment sounds electrifying! Just be careful, okay?! I don't want to be reading your obituary! Of course all this electrical and battery manjo-jumble (oops! mumble-jumble) is over my head! I will buy one as long as you include destructions!!

Looking forward to how this progresses!!

Teri, thats great. Of course I have no plans to mass produce these things but I will make a few. It's an interesting concept but having experience patenting fish items, I will pass.
I fool around with this stuff basically because I have a desire to build (or break) things.
My workshop is full of devices in various stages of completion. Usually, half way through, I design a better way to do it.
I have always been an inventer and is what gets me up at 5:00 am every day even though I am retired.
I can build a space shuttle with the stuff I have in my garage.
Unfortunately, this is not my only hobby, I wish there was more hours in the day.
This morning, after the gym, I have to go to Manhattan to deliver a few fish a friend is giving away and she asked me to find someone who would take them.
I am building some yard structures for my house but with the torrential rain, I can't do that today so I will work on my boat outdrives.
I can't understand how people get bored. There is a whole world out there.

Look at the picture above and make believe the bubbles are moving.

I don't even know how to post a video

If anyone wants to borrow the mojano zapper to test for a week or so let me know. I would just want your impressions of the thing.
Micki, if you are on here, I tried it on a small mushroom and it worked. The thing died and disappeared. I can also lend you one if you like.
I only have two of them

Is it difficult for patents in this industry? I always assumed it was easy due to the abundance of useless products like the aqua ecolizer.

The anemone packs a harder punch! The mushrooms stay away from it!
