Draining overflow?

I have a Marineland reef ready 75g with a 20g sump, running for almost a year. I am trying to make my durso setup quieter. I have read online that cleaning it may help. I'm nervous about removing the pipe to clean it. What will happen to the water in the side overflow?
Silly question, I know. The learning curve is something I love about ths hobby!

The water in your overflow will drain into your sump.

You have a corner overflow, right? As Juan said, normally the water in the overflow will drain down to your sump.

Several things to keep in mind:
- If the seal to the overflow isn't perfect, the water in the tank could continue to seep through and drain down to the sump.
- the durso pipe is connected to a bulkhead at the bottom of the overflow (I assume.) It may have been glued to the bulkhead, meaning you can't remove it. Most people don't glue the elbows at the top, so you should be able to remove those regardless.
- If the bulkhead has been there for a while and you have to remove it, you may need to replace the gasket. Make sure you have access to a new bulkhead and/or gasket, or are prepared to go a few days without
