The 50g change is done one time at the end of the month and my top off is just straight ro/di from a dedicated 3g storage tank under my kitchen sink. I don't know how much gallons per day, but i do know that my salinity has been steady.

Other than that all is well and still growing.

Hey Crazy,

Love your setup, kind of got me started on my path. (140G Cube tank) Question on your dosing, did you follow the MB7 dosing per the bottle? Dosing the MB7 everyday for the first two weeks and then going down to weekly maintenance dosing?

On the vodka, how much and how often do you dose and did you build up to your current dosing amounts? Thanks in advance...

Scott

One more question, does your black tang stay to himself? Does he bother the cardinals at all? I have (5) red spots and (5) threadfins being delivered tomorrow and the only fish I am worried about with them is my female bellus angel who has become a bit more territorial since adding a male bellus.

Yes both MB7 and vodka were ramped up to the current dosage. 5ml of vodka and about 4 drops of MB7 per day follow the recommended dose for the first two weeks. The black Tang keeps to its self and leaves the others alone, but i cant say the same for the Bellus if it is aggressive. The cardinals will do much better in an aggressive free environment if not the cardinals would group together tightly and hide a lot.

From the tank(Love that frag tank under the tank) to the fish to the stack to the home itself-you got style!

And I like it!

Great thread by the way!

That tank is stunning. I'm glad reefers are starting to use open space in their aquascapes instead of rushing to pack every available bit of real estate with frags. And I love your threadfins. I used to have a school of them myself. They're the perfect complement to corals, IMO.

Don't forget Moalboal. You don't need to dive there... just have to walk in a ankle deep coral littered reef. Also, would be nice to get in contact with Charles "Chuck's addiction - author" Raabe if you are visiting Cebu.

I'm sure you have said this somewhere in this thread..

I just wanted to know how you made the bonsai tree.

I see you used acrylic rods, expoxy, and zip ties.

Now I'm guessing you drilled into the rock to insert the acrylic rods. Did you put epoxy inside of the drilled out holes then inserted the acrylic rod?

Sorry if you have been asked this many times. Or do you have a link to the page where I can find this?

Thanks

Thanks Crab for the help! Ando the epoxy is not inserted into the holes its more like the finishing touch that fills in the gaps between the two rocks joined together.

Spy, I'll be sure to do that when i visit Cebu next year.

Velvetelvis, I love my cardinals they do complement he corals well.

Alphaferret, Thanks appreciate that comment!

Really good to know, I was still undecided on if I were going to use any epoxy.. Were you using stuff made for the marine aquarium (like Two Little Fishes AquaStik, for example) or something else? I know that in a few articles on David Saxbys tank, he had detailed the use of modeling/hobby putty & epoxy.. though now he endorses the use of reef epoxies - lol.

I am supposed to begin (and hopefully finish!) my rock conjoining this week. I'm still undecided and anxious about it, though. Your thread and those detailed pictures have helped a lot in the mental preparation for it, for sure.

Sorry to bring you back a few months. I read that you had troubles with your Borbonius being aggressive toward other fish in the tank. How were they with each other? Any aggression there or were they OK with each other? I'm thinking of adding a pair. By the way, beautiful tank and great taste in livestock.

They were ok up until one got slightly bigger than the other then the bigger one would bully the smaller one whenever it sees it. I noticed their aggressiveness would slowly increase as they adapt to their surroundings and tank mates.

Just saw your tank, and wow, great work with the rock. Probably the best rock work I have seen yet.

When I get my 75 back up again, I am going to try something inspired by yours.

Guys, sorry I haven’t been on here for a while the tank is doing really well and everything is growing, actually growing a little too well. Some corals have been trimmed and or removed. I am contemplating whether or not I should break down but not any time soon. I will post some FTS up soon.

Thor
