180 gallon SPS reef

I have followed along tons of build threads here on RC so I thought I would document my upcoming upgrade. Iâ€™m going from my current 90g inwall to a 180g.

The Tank:
Inwall 48X36X24 Tank
Starfire front glass
PVC bottom
Euro brace
External 3 foot overflow with three 1.5 inch holes.

Sump:
120g 60X18X24

Refugium:
80g 48X16X24

Equipment:
Tunze steam 2X6000 and 2X6100
Deltc PF600 CA Reactor
Deltec AP1004 Skimmer
American Marines pH Controller
AquaZone Ozone Generator 100mg/h
Via Aqua CC25 chiller

Lighting:
4X250w 10k XM
4x110w VHO actinics

I ordered my TANK!! Aquadan will be building it and I should have it here in about two weeks time!.
I made some (allot) of changes in order to keep cost down. The tank will be inwall so I'm not really concerned with finished and polished edges. I also removed the coast-to-coast overflow and the PVC bottom. I did keep the front glass starfire. Now I have to start taking down my 90 and preparing the area for my new 180. I don't really know how I'm going to do this right now. I'm stumped....Any and all suggestions are welcome.
Ohh Iâ€™m also putting in a closed loop, which I hadnâ€™t planned. I got a great price on two seaswirls so Ill be plumbing them into a closed loop.

I made some progress today with the stand itâ€™s about half done. I should have it completed tomorrow.

I thought id post a final FTS before I tear this thing down. This shot was taken under only 1 110w VHO actinic.

hey hey my aquarium will be build by aquadan (not 100% sure)
I need to see youre sump and stand

Personnaly i care about the edge, specialy the eurobrace it can cut youre skin very easly when youre playing in the tank !

Stand is still not finished. I have some reinforcing to do but Iâ€™m pretty much almost done. Iâ€™m going to be taking my refugium offline next and redoing it. I hope I donâ€™t come across any problems because of this.

I had some bad luck this morning. I walked into my fish room and found the floor soaked. A small PVC fitting on my Ca reactor had magically cracked. I have absolutely no clue how this could have happened all on itâ€™s own. I have not touched my reactor in over a week. I was Lucky enough to have the guys at World Fish hunt down a replacement part for it right away.

Update:
Iâ€™m now going to be taking apart the stand and removing all the pressure treated wood. I was told that it was in my best interest to remove the pressure treated wood. I didnâ€™t ask to many questions and Iâ€™m now removing it while itâ€™s still early and easy to do.

I picked up some goodies from World Fish tonight and also made another change to my plans. I picked up two reeflo Darts and a double 250 watt PFO ballast. Iâ€™m going to be using one Dart to power two seaswirls and the other one is going on a closed loop.

Even though it doesnâ€™t seem like to many people are interested in my boring thread I still like to keep it updated. Hopefully it will start getting interesting after my tank comes in.
I finally found it in me to start removing the pressure treated wood and install the new wood.
I also took another FTS to show just how bad my tank is starting to look as I slowly pull out my corals. Tomorrow I will be pulling out almost all of whatâ€™s left in the tank. The corals will be going up for sale at my LFS world fish.

My 90 has finally been moved out; the refugium is empty, the stand is build and Iâ€™m ready for my new TANK!!

WoW I had no idea this upgrade was going to be SO much work!
After pulling out the tank I really didnâ€™t like what I saw looking at the sand bed! WHAT A SMELL! Now Iâ€™m back to rethinking the hole SBB thingâ€¦..
I still have ALLOT to do in the â€œsump roomâ€ but Iâ€™m slowly getting there. Iâ€™m a little stumped on what to do about my canopy. Iâ€™m looking for an easy way to lift it when I have to service the tank. Maybe ill just install door hinges and add a little wedge on the frontâ€¦..any ideas?

On my 300 I used Pullies from West Marine that I mounted above the tank in the ceeling. To cover the holes that the lines come out of, I used the caps that are used on boats to cover the hole that the anchor line drops in. When I need the line I just open the caps and lower the line. The winch is just a small hand winch from a tool place. The setup works great if you have enough clearance above the tank to lift the hood.

Cbabcock, I finally decided that Iâ€™m going go with a pulley system.
Here is a pic another member posted of what he had done. Iâ€™m going to be installing one thatâ€™s similar.

New update: I was very unhappy with the stand I build (for many reasons), so I decided to tear it out and start from scratch tomorrow. I also cleaned out and removed my refugium. Itâ€™s now ready for me to add the new baffles.

MAN I canâ€™t wait till this is all over!! Itâ€™s really starting to take a toll on me. It seems like the never-ending project!

My project looks like itâ€™s finally ready to get off the ground. I picked up the wood, Styrofoam and rails from home depot today and I also siliconed my baffles for my refugium last night. Even though it may seem like Iâ€™m going backwards to allot of you out there. Iâ€™m actually happy with how things are starting to move along for me now. I have changed allot of things along the way and I think these are the things that are going to make all the difference in the end. Here are some pics.

It's just a drain.

It usually has a cover on it.

I have the same thing in my garage.
