Reef Crystals Alkalinity 7.6?

Hello everyone.

I am getting ready to do a water change and I mixed up a batch of Reef Crystals (which I will no longer be using as I will be switching to a different salt) but when I tested the Alk of the fresh batch with my Hanna tester it is reading 7.6.

Can anyone confirm this is accurate because I thought it mixed up higher then that and that seems pretty low to me.

Thanks to anyone who can confirm.

That does seem a bit low to me. Have you double-checked the kit? I'd expect something above 11 dKH.

Jonathan,

Thank you for the reply.

It appears that test is accurate as my tank tested around 7.9 which I know is low but that seems right to me since I have not dosed alk for a bit.

I think it's time to switch salt brands.

That might be a reasonable idea.

Checked the tank again after adding the water change water.

7.6

Added the proper amount to raise DKH 1.

Read 8.5

It's gotta be right.

Well, those numbers do make me think the test kit is okay.
