Testing
I test my water a day after I do i water change am I going it right of do i need to test more.

If you are trying to see what a water change does, then you would test before and after the change.

You're fine but in addition to SantaMonica's comment if you're new to reef systems I'd suggest two things to help get an understanding of how things are going in your system; First, at some point during the first few months pick a week or two and test frequently and include 4 or 5 days in a row at the same time. Second, for the first year as your system matures test test everything at least once a week t get a feel for how your tests correlate with how your animals are doing. After a while undoubtedly you will revert to just using the eyeball test like most of the rest of us but being diligent for a while will help give you a better understanding of how things work.

I test my alkalinity twice a day, everything else not so much.
