Favorite CUC
Are there CUC you've noticed do much more than others? I have heard that trochus are the best snail, others agree? Was also looking at a sea cucumber. What snails, crabs, other do you think are the most productive?

One thing to be aware of is crabs will eat the snails, especially if the shell is bigger.

I think the best snail is the Strombus Graser, sold by Indo Pacific Sea Farms (ipsf.com). These small snails reproduce in numbers to match the algae supply. Ceriths also reproduce. Micro serpent stars reproduce and are excellent detrivores. Nassarius snails are good for extra food clean up. Fighting Conches keep the sand bed clear of algae. Pods are also excellent crew members. You need a pretty large tank with a lot of detritus to support one cucumber. Otherwise they gradually wither away from starvation.
Diversity is important. Get a variety of algae and detritus consumers to make your job much easier.

I have found Money Cowries (snails) to be a great GHA eater and general CUC member. I find they are more active on my rock work than the Trochus which tend to stay on the glass.
