SpareApex

Received my spare Apex yesterday.

I guess it's good to have BUT I think this might be getting out of hand? How much backup and spares should one have?
When the Apex showed up yesterday I was thinking of this thread http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh....php?t=2064032!

Oh well let's see where this goes.

I have a pink one. I have had him for 18 months. It loves to eat so spot feed them.

Thank you, it's because of the internet and this forum that I got into the aquarium hobby. Without the help and support I am sure I would have never attempted it. So I am giving back my experience to others.

New Mission!

I'm on a new mission now!
I think that my Lysmata wurdemanni (peppermint shrimp) are eating my soft tissues corals, so I need to catch them and get them out of my tank. Any ideas on the best way to do that? Any one?

I dont think they eat them. Have fun on your mission. They are pretty easy to catch, just throw in a piece of raw shrimp at night.

I'm very happy with my Miracles Aquarium, never lost sleep over it which is more than I can say for the rest of the equipment. I was thinking about what my favorite pice of equipment on this tank is

and I came up with the Swabbie on my BKing skimmer. I just don't touch my skimmer at all for month! Every 3-4 month I clean it all up but that's it. I LOVE IT. Second is the Skimmer third is the OM, the tank just looks so clean without powerheads showing and works great. The LED lights are also nice, no heat. Anyway just thinking out loud.

They are wonderful creatures. I have 5 of them in my tank ranging from Dark blue to pink. They get real big though. I have one which is by now about 4 to 5" in diameter. (not the tentacles but the mouth only) anyway as said wonderful creatures but they kill everything coming close to them instantly and they do move around allot. Also be careful with your rock work as they tend to crawl under it with their tubes and throw over things.

Thank you, I wish I could agree. I'm still trying to keep some corals from going under. But the tank is getting better, slooowly.

Small update.

I'm now running skimmerless! Yes I shut off my skimmer now for the past 4-6 weeks and my mushrooms and zoas are comming back to life.
The only thing I'm using as a filter is my home made algae scrubber. Wow, I never would have guessed that my water was too clean.

Another disaster!

Well I have another disaster on my hands this morning, found 15-20 gallons of water under my tank "but contained in my pondliner". After cleaning it up I found the slow leak at the right side of the tank at the return bulkhead. I will have to drop the water down another 3” so I can replace it. FUN STUFF!

I was wrong! It's the overflow box letting go. I think this is the last straw. I'm going to sell my fish & corals and drain the tank. I'm done.
