Swc 250 skimmer pump question???????

I have a swc 250 extreme with the 2 sicce 2500. I'm having problems getting the impeller shafts so I think it's time to upgrade. I will be modding the skimmer to use 1 bubble blaster pump. I need to know if I should use the bbhy3000 or the bbhy5000. Price is not a concern bc they are about $20 different. Thanks!!!

Add up the gph rating of the two Sicce pumps, and that will give you your answer of which BB pump to get.

That would mean I would need 1320 gph through the skimmer? That can't be right I feel like the bb5000 would be a little over kill an that says it puts out 600!

Yes, that is not right. If you can find what the pumps put out as a skimmer pump, not a return pump, that is what you need to get. Do you think that skimmer body can handle that amount of flow? LOL...

The Sicce pulls about 900-1000 l/h of air, you have two of them so you want a pump that will pull about 2000 l/h so that makes the BB5000 the better fit for the skimmer body.

Nikon 187 just got pump in. What parts did you use to convert the one half of British thread union to the now larger size on the 5000?

You need to order the parts from coralvue to adapt to the swc, just tell them what you are doing and they will help you out.

Resurrecting this old thread Wondering if anyone else is and HAS been running the BB 5000 on a SWC 250 series skimmer. I have a 250 /2 like the OP with one bad PSK-2500 with shorting wires. I HATE these pumps. I tried ordering a new PSK2500 from the SWC website but now having to file refund request with Paypal since it has been two weeks with no response from SWC. So I am thinking I will try the BB 5000.

Questions, if running a single BB 5000 on this then what have any of you done with the other pump inlet? I don't want to leave the old PSK-2500 on it and I don't want to leave the inlet open. I am pretty sure I should just close the inlet off somehow in a secure but temporary manner.

Looking for pics and/or experiences from anyone that may have modded their 250 series SWC with a BB 5000 to find out if it was the correct pump/impeller etc for this skimmer body.

I replaced the old psk 2500 pumps with 2 psk 1000 pumps on my Bubble Master 250.
I got mine from Avast Marine.

My only problem with that is space. You have to get that converter to fit the 1000 in n place of the 2500 and I don't have that much room for both pumps. But I am fairly sure if I can run one bb5000 I will have enough space. Thanks for the reply though

Mark - if you can remove the union on the skimmer you might be able to use vinyl hose to make the connection like shown here:

PS- I just ordered a replacement PSK 2500 with needle wheel and venturi from another on-line retailer. They are still available.

Yeah. Thanks. I might still go the 1000. I ordered the Psk2500 from saltwater connection dot Com. It's been 4 weeks. No email no product. Emails asking about it and got no replies. Submitted paypal for refund. I might just go the 1000 route

Did you ever hear back from SWC? I'm in a similar situation after ordering an Askoll pump from them 2 weeks ago.

Good to know, thanks. Filed my dispute. Wish that SWC would have turned off their webstore when they decided to stop doing business.....
