ID please, friend or foe?
So I had an aiptasia outbreak late last week (I only had a couple of rocks in the tank though), I nuked the rocks (with a vinigar bath) and put them back in the DT after 2 days. Just for reference here is a photo of the aiptasia that I had all over my rocks.
On one of the same rocks as the aiptasia there was a couple of these (they died when the rock was nuked) I went and collected some more fresh LR as 3 rocks was not enough and after monitoring it for 24hrs in a seperate tank (obviously not long enough, I let my impatience get the best of me and took it out as I wanted to re-seal the tank it was in) I added my new rock to the DT. It's now been in there overnight and I have found a few of these (less than 10) scattered over one (just one for now) of the larger pieces. Any clue what they are? Are they a different species of aiptasia or something else? They look very similar to the other unidentified things but I just want to make sure they won't be a problem. If I can't get an ID in the next 6 hours when I finish work I will most likely remove the rock and nuke it just to be safe. Cheers, Macca |
