Zen's 580 Gallon Starphire In-Wall

I am in the middle of remodeling my basement, and I decided to turn my fish room into a new 580 gallon reef tank.

My 225 is currently plumbed into my basement. Decided to go big and looked at placing a 8' long tank where my sump, protein skimmer, and three-part dosing currently occurs.

I almost ordered an 8' tank but after measuring the area again, I was 3" short of being able to put in an 8' tank. I would have to move a wall plus I want two external waveboxes on the right side, and that would extend the length another 5". So once the wall has to move, I thought why not go even bigger? My current sump sits in an area next to a bathroom, so I broke down the wall between the current "sump" room and bathroom, and the new 10' long tank will extend into the bathroom by a little less than three feet.

So I'm ordering a three sided starphire tank from A.G.E. 3/4" Starphire, 1 1/4" PVC bottom, stainless steel bracing along the top. External overflow and two waveboxes on right panel. 10' x 3' x 31". 580 Gallons.

Should have tank drawings soon. Will put two holes for a closed loop, and will run 4 Vortechs, and 2 external Tunze Waveboxes.

Will re-use a lot of the equipment on my current 225. Reeflo Orca 250, Four 400W Radiums in Lunenarc 3's driven by Galaxy Ballasts with supplemental VHO actinics.

I should have taken some pictures of the "before" but all I have is where I'm at today.

What, only a 10 footer? Couldnt go big and fit a 12 footer? lol. Long and didnt compromise depth with 36", I like it. Probably the perfect size (huge) tank.

Here's the latest. Just finished drywall and texture in the basement, and I moved my sump to the bathroom so that I can tile the floor where the new tank will sit.

Still waiting on CAD drawing of the new tank to approve. I'm told they are at least six weeks out from delivery, but I hope I can get it by Thanksgiving.

I will have to do a custom wood stand as I left a lot of the existing wall in place. There was plumbing in the wall that would have been a lot of trouble to move so I will just build a stand, attach it to the existing walls and use a piece of 3/4" plywood across the top.

Pictures:

Skimmer in bathroom. The sump is actually in the shower. Note wasteline from skimmer dumps straight into toilet

I wish I could have gotten a 10 footer but I had to settle for an 8 footer. Looks like a great build.

It looks a little uncomfortable when you really have to "go"

ETA?

Exciting time while you await your tank... Too bad you couldn't use their steel stand in order to get the three year warranty...

Did Tom at AGE suggest the stainless braces in lieu of the usual euro-bracing? Because of the length of the tank?

Tagging along for sure from another satisfied AGE owner!
