Problem with using nail polish?

I am using a partly submerged sensor. My last one corroded the wires just inside the resin. Can I coat this area with nail polish in a semi-wet environment? Additionally the make up water flows right over these wires. Also, reef safe?

Nail polish is pretty toxic stuff. I'd use aquarium safe silicone.
