I use a Sicce pump, which is very quiet. It is also asynchronous. Hence, it is very energy efficient.

Sicce makes Tunze pumps. The same pump costs less if "Sicce" is written on it.

Sicce/ tunze are the best return pumps out now. Sicce 3.0 is the best return on the market... a lot better than the ehiem

Oddly enough the tunze was cheaper than the sicce in the 2.0 size when I got mine. The 3.0 size the tunze was way more.

Instead of one bigger Dart or something I use two Eheim 1262 returns. My Koralias are louder than my Eheims.

Love Eheim pumps they seem to never go bad. One of my returns has been going for about 7 years now. It's been run dry a couple times. Once it was running dry for about an hour. That was a few years ago...still just as solid and silent as the other newer one. QUALITY! I wish my skimmer pump was an Eheim.

Also look for reliability, I have a Eheim 1262 on a 120gallon for 10 years now.
Highly recommend it.

I used a Sicce 5 for a return pump for 6 months before replacing it with a Flowstar. The Sicce was a loud vibrating piece of junk. I have a SWC 180 with a Sicce 2500. Another piece of junk. Pump was shot after 8 months. With both these pumps I contacted Sicce and got ZERO help. The Flowstar is great.

We are talking about the sicce 2 and 3. I heard bad things about 4 and up.

I use a sicce 3 and it silent.

Another vote for the Tunze Silence, I've used about all the Eheim pumps and although they are pretty quiet, they are not dead silent like the Tunze Silence 1073.05, IME.

+1 on the Sicce. I have just not had good luck with them. I really liked the threaded in/outs on the smaller ones. High hopes faded fast.

The waterblaster pumps are dead silent and have very little watt draw. For a 65, I'd go with a 3000.

I put a Sicce 5 in my 150.....may have been overkill. Very efficient and strong, they are known to last......but the vibration noise is there enough that I may move on to a different model.

I have a 1262 and with silicone tubing it is close to silent. I am a fan of using the Eheim pumps because they are tanks. The only other pumps I'd consider are the Fluval SP line, the Tunze Silence or the Reef Octopus Varios. But you can't beat the peace of mind when running an Eheim pump.

The eheim compact is silent but runs hot! Not a problem for some tanks.
My new tunze silence is controllable and runs a little less hot.
No point paying red dragon prices unles you have a compulsion.
