Came home from a club meeting and my tank was 66.6 degrees. Noticed that my chiller was still running even though the tank temp was low. After some playing around with my AC jr it looks like the socket in the DC8 that the chiller was plugged into was stuck in the "On" positon. Even when I turned it off manually the chiller kept running. I reassigned the chiller to a different socket and it seems to be working as programmed.
Anyone ever have this happen? the DC8 is fairly new but the ACjr is 2-3 years old.

What plug did you have the chiller plugged into? I've heard of cases where high-powered devices, plugged into port 4 or 8 on the DC8 have casues the relays so melt together.

It is best to have chillers and high powered devices pluged into ports 1-2, 5-7 (on a DC8) or better yet use a DC4HD or AC expantion box.

Thanks Ken. It was plugged into 6. I moved it to 4 so it sounds like I should move it again.

Something else I just remembered is that this morning my lights didnt come on. after doing some checking I noticed that the circuit breaker on the DC8 had popped. Once I reset it everything worked.

How big is your chiller? If you have much draw, the DC4HD or the expansion socket is a better bet than using the DC8. You run the risk of having this happen again if you trip the internal breaker due to too much draw. You can go with the socket expansion (although I fried one of them after about a year with a 1/3 hp chiller, and have since decided to try the DC4HD even though they are more money).

The chiller is a 1/3 hp Cyclone drop in. I may have to get the DC4HD. I dont know if i hvae been lucky but this chiller has run on my old DC8 for a couple of years without any problem.
