AC Jr. CAT 3 cable problem

It seems that when I go to manual control that sometimes what im trying to turn off or on does not switch the plugs on and off sometimes unless I wiggle the CAT 3 telephone cable looking wire. I am thinking the wire is going bad. Has anyone else had this problem?

I've seen simular issues when the crimp is not clean and the copper runners are uneven; it can cause eratic connections.
