Everything was great on the ac3 with my old internet company.

now we have switched to RCN and it me a while to get the web interface up, had to go through port 8080. Got that going, well now i am not able to get my email alerts.

my ac3 is ver 3.4
I tried to do the telnet thing thru the run command but got this error "windows can not find "telnet"."

thoughts?

did you change your outgoing email server and log in credentials (if any required)? also, some companies require you to use the from address as the address you have with them.

I googled and found this if you need the settings:

You run 'telnet' from the DOS window. Try running 'cmd' from the run dialog box. When you get the DOS window, then try telnet.

I did not have to change this because i have the same email address. I am not using the email service from my internet provider. I have an email through godaddy.com

can i do this wirelessly? or do i need to be direct connected via a cat5?

i tried it from the dos and get this error.
'telnet' is not a recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

Are you running Vista or Windows 7? It's not installed by default.

Vista:
Click Start, Control Panel, Programs, and then Turn Windows Features on or off. In the list, scroll down and select Telnet Client. Click OK to start the installation.

Win7:
Start
Control Panel
Programs And Features
Turn Windows features on or off
Check Telnet Client
