apex gone nuts

well i was getting emails from switches that don't exist and switches that do but no issues with them my heater was aparrently producing a problem then all of a sudden the messages stopped. i can't send a test email and i can't log on to the apex unless i cycle the power. i have checked all the net setup stuff and nothing has changed the router is the same ip address is good i even gave it an error to produce an email and the display shows nothing and the ethernet lights don't flash like they normally do when its talking to the router
alittle more info my router(2wire) says that my apex is active but if i do the command prompt thing (ipconfig/all) the apex is disconnected with no physical address?
