Can you use the apex to cycle power heads like the hydor koralias?
Sort of like a wave maker.

Not the Hydor because they operate off a different signaling voltage. Tunze, yes.

That depends on what you mean by cycle. If you want to vary the intensity, then not unless they use a 10v signal such as the Tunze that Alan mentioned. If you just want to turn them ON/OFF then yes, but you probably don't want to cyle them too quickly. The following would cycle them ON/OFF for 30 minutes each:

OSC 0/30/30 Then ON

OK thanks Ill try that.
One more question" So I would able to cycle thru them on a thirty minute cycle repeatedly?

Yes, the OSC repeats indefinitely. The Apex gives you a lot of flexibility. Here is a simple way to cycle during the day and shut down at night:

[PowerHds]
Fallback ON
OSC 0/30/30 Then ON
If Time 18:00 to 6:00 Then OFF

If you want to alter the cycle at different times of the day, that is a bit more tricky.

I think you will shorten the life of those pumps if you keep turning them on and off. They aren't designed for that.

Ok i will consider that in formation.
Thanks two the bot of you for your help.
I do have one other problem with my feed cycle.
I have set it so my skimmer and return pumps will turn off for the feed cycle and it seems that it keeps cycling on and off.
Got any answers?

Please post all timers and the full program... and a better description of the problem.

The feed cycle turns my pumps off for 10 minutes then turns them back on for 5 minutes.
and it continues to cycle repeatedly
her is how i have it setup to run feed cycle A Russ.
Oh i also have it set on auto.
Skimmer cycle
Fallback OFF
OSC 005:00/005:00/005:00 Then ON
If FeedA 030 Then OFF

Return pump cycle

Fallback OFF
OSC 005:00/005:00/005:00 Then ON
If FeedA 030 Then OFF

It will turn my pumps off and after the cycle it will turn them back on and then it will start the cycle all over again.

My pumps have cycled three times in the last 30 minutes.

They are cycling because of the OSC statement not the Feed command. If the intention is to run continuously, replace the OSC with Set ON. I would also change both to Fallback ON.

Regarding the Koralias and the on/off cycles...

If you're running the newer Koralia "Evo" series, those can be cycled on and off repeatedly without damaging the powerheads or shortening their life span.

However, if you're running the older Koralias, you will definitely shorten their lifespan if you switch them on and off like a wavemaker. If you're not looking for variable flow and just want an on/off cycle, the new "Evo" Koralias are a fairly low cost option.

Yes i do have the new Evos.
And i just want to be able to turn them on and off at different times.
Not really cycling them like a wave maker.
I have tried all of these statement code and cant seem to get them to work.
Also i have a outlet that i can't turn on or off.
It just so happens to be one that runs one of my koralias.
Any thoughts Kurt?

With these small wattage devices, it is often necessary to run them on outlets 4 & 8. Are they turning on, but not turning off? Also, you can check the Outlet XML report or graph them to see if the logic is giving the desired results.

I wish it was as simple as that.
I have two Eb8s and i am running two more koralias on the other one and i am not having any problems with them turning on or off.
This outlet is stuck in a on position.
Even when i turn it off the outlet stays on,I just tried my skimmer on that outlet and it doesn't change any thing.
I think it is under warranty so i will just have to contact Kurt at Neptune and get it fixed.

Is there another outlet with the same name as the one that won't turn off?

This Eb8 is only programed for one koralia.

It is possible to damage a triac outlet. I know, because I have done it. :( I had a ballast burn out and presumably overloaded the relay. It is also stuck ON, so I just leave my skimmer on that outlet. Mine was out of warranty when it occurred.

Yeah! I think it is damaged.
It's under warranty until April
