A few days ago our power went out for four hours. After the power came back on my Apex controller would not do anything. The display is blank and my EB8's only blink orange/yellow. I have tried everything I can thing of such as unplugging everything overnight and plugging back in the following day but still nothing. I had tried looking online for the solution but seen others with the problem and some had success updating the firmware. I had this bright idea to plug the usb cable from my laptop into one of the EB8's immediately my screen went blank and it will not power up. I think I must have fried it?

Yup, it could be toast.
Send Neptune System support a quick email from their web site. They are really quick at responding usually, unfortunately, the USB cords and outlets on the APEX are simply an easily accessable form of connectivity and probably relatively cheap for manufacturing costs. I'm pretty sure it's not actually a USB that carries the level of voltage that traditional computers pump out. I think it's a low low voltage thing like +- 5 volts. Again , I don't know for sure and your best bet is just to speak with Neptune directly regarding your APEX.
Good luck and That SUCKS!!!

Regular USB runs 5v but the Aquabus runs 12v. If you connected your PC to your EB8 I would have expected the USB on your PC to get toasted.
I'd try to reload the firmware. It might fight you and if so, there are tips to get around the utility loader problems in the User Guide.

Thanks for the response. I emailed Paul and he is working with me now to get my controller up and running again. He said the same... sounds like it is fried. Bet I don't do that again. Lol
