Tried to download version 4.32 and install it so I could run my new Apex Automatic Fish feeder. Big surprise it crashed my apex. Does anyone else get tired of their updates being a huge pain in the a-- to install? Conveniently their customer service is only open m-f until 5 pm. Gets annoying when you have their expensive equipment and by the time I get off work and need to talk to them they are closed. Can anyone help with this problem?
Thanks

I've personally never had a problem using a hardwired connection just like they state

I am hardwired from my modem to my Apex and wifi from my mac to my modem. I hooked my mac up to the modem via an ethernet cable. That is what you mean by hardwired right?

if you already had a wireless connection, you maintained a wireless connection even with a cat 5 cable from your mac to the router.
99% of the corrupt apex updates I have seen have been from wireless connections. You miss a packet, it's done. That's why everything they state says to disable wireless and only run a hardwired ethernet connection between the cpu and the apex for updates

Yes, even if you hardwire your laptop to the router/modem, you should still disable wifi during the update.
The key to consistent results is pure ethernet. No wifi, powerline adapters, or MOCA bridges. The "update" process is fragile. You are putting the controller into a bootstrap mode and fully replacing the operating system. If you miss a block, bad things tend to happen.
To that point, if Neptune is not going to checksum each write, they should at least include a full verification pass at the end to notify the user that the update failed and to try again before exiting bootstrap.

So what are my options at this point?

Read page 103 of the Comprehensive Manual v4.0.

Where is this comprehensive manual? Their email help was useless and I would like to throw this thing in the trash and break out my old manual timers.

I think the trash can at my house would work better. PM me for the address. :)

I figured someone would offer their trash can.
Just a run down of my apex problems that have gotten me to this point:
- apex had a problem and turned my heater on and would have cooked my tank if I didn't have my chiller to stop it
- then they tried to fix it by taking over my computer and ended up crashing my apex and I had to send in my eb8 on my dime for them to fix
- screen died and I have had several other problems I can't even remember
