View Full Version : Second Ph probe for Ca Rx help

Seem to recall previously there was instruction in the manual how to add and calibrate a second pH probe in the place of ORP probe.

Can't seem to figure out how to get it going.

Tried disabling ORP, doesn't work.
There is no pH2 on the menu under "set up".

Any help?
Thanks!

Assuming you have a Full Apex and not a Jr you can do it in two locations...either on the display module or the preferred way on the classic dashboard under Configuration => Probe/Input Setup. From there you should have a drop down menu and should go 1)Temp 2)pH 3)pH2 4)ORP.

If you don't see all those probes in the drop down then post a screen shot but most likely you would need to open a support ticket (https://www.neptunesystems.com/support/contact-support/) with Neptune

I have a full apex and it allows me to have a ph probe and orp probe hooked up to the main unit and a additional ph probe on the pm1 module.

mine is configured with a pH port, and an additional port marked pH/ORP. However, under set up, there is only an option to calibrate pH probe, or ORP probe. I tried to disable ORP thinking a second pH would appear or I could rename it pH2, but the calibration process is still set up for an ORP probe with 0.000 reading. Does not appear to be an option to change over to pH readings 0.00.

Sorry I miss understood you so you trying calibrate the pH2 probe?

If that is the case the best to use the the display module to do this and if you have already enabled the pH2 probe and disabled the ORP probe in the location I gave in my earlier post then all you need to do is to calibrate the probe is:

Display module go to ph calibration and it will display the first pH probe and use the down arrow to select the ph2 probe and select it and go through the calibration process.

Note there is a know bug having issues the the second pH probe being named "pH2" so I would recommend renaming that probe to CaRpH or what ever helps you identify that probe and that can be done in the Classic Dashboard.

There is no pH2 option on the display. Only pH and ORP. I'm already running a pH probe on the tank. This is a second pH probe I intend to use on my Ca reactor. I am unable to locate a pH2 option under set up. I am not able to change ORP set up to a pH2 option such that I can begin the calibration process or begin programming. I've tried disabling ORP as well. This does nothing to help the situation.

Can you please post screen shots of your probe/input setup page on the classic dashboard ...something like this:

Thanks

I'm doing it through the display. Is that the problem? Or a problem?

No you can use the display module and I am not at home to tell you the procedure, but going through the display can be a lot more difficult and is know to create more headaches on the members...lol

With that being said the display is the best way to calibrate the probe once you are able to enable it and see it.

Ok here is how you can do this from the Display Module:

Center Button
Setup Menu
Center Button
pH Setup
Center Button
pH Enable
Center Button
it will then say Probe: pH (if it has not been renamed)(this is the primary pH Probe)
Down Arrow
it will then say Probe: pH2 (if it has not been renamed)(Recommend renaming later)
OK
Down Arrow (until it says ON)
Save

Hope this helps you...

Ok, I go to display I see

CRX is what I renamed ORP
ORP enable is On

pH set up shows

I go to pH enable it shows

On or off I never find pH2

Can't seem to locate this second pH probe....

so first of all it will not show up on the display that you show in the first picture as you can only have 4 probe data on a single display page so to see it you will have to remove one of the other data probes on that first page of the display module, but that will be once you get the probe enabled.

Also what port is your ORP probe plugged into?????....do you have a PM1 module?

Make sure that the pH probe is connected good to the pH/ORP probe on the apex base unit.

So in the third picture before you hit the "OK" button to display the ON/OFF option did you hit the down arrow when it said pH?

Here are mine before I hit the "OK" button to enable or disable
pH_Tank = my pH probe port
pHCalR = my pH/ORP probe port

Then, you need to edit the display settings so that it shows you the probes you want. You can do it using the display menu, but it's easier to do using the Apex web pages (Configuration->Display Setup). Experiment to get the display you want. In your case, I would set Display Page 1 as follows:

Clock: displayed
Probe Line 1: Temp and pH
Probe Line 2: pH2 and Amps_3
Outlet Line 1: disabled
Outlet Line 2: disabled.

Customize display pages 2-4 as desired.

switch display pages using the right & left button. There will be 1-4 dots in teh upper right corner of the display - the number of dots indicated the Page # you are seeing.

Ok, so I found the pH2

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b138/markjcolaneri/Mobile%20Uploads/485432D1-6C0C-47F8-A535-28A134362367.jpg (http://s18.photobucket.com/user/markjcolaneri/media/Mobile%20Uploads/485432D1-6C0C-47F8-A535-28A134362367.jpg.html)

I hit the down button and it says "on"
And then I hit "save"

But where to go from there?

jonmos75

I would then rename the probe something different then pH2 and then calibrate the probe with 4.01 & 7.01 calibrating solution

Here is a video that BRS posted but for a calcium reactor use 4 & 7

Outstanding assistance! 1000 Thanks!

All set.

Now to the programming.....

I must admit, this contraption is beyond me...
