Curious as to why some zoos are flat on a rock & some extend long.
Some zoos I purchased came flat but now reach out.
Just wondering if it has anything to do with health or lighting.
Thanks!

IME, lighting will have an affect on that. The lower the lighting seems to make them stretch more. I always just figured that they were "reaching" for the light more. That's just a thought though and I don't know it to be true.

I've found more that it dpends on the zoas. Lighting does have some effect, but I have some zoas that went from normal length stalks (relatively short, but not plastered to the rock) to about 2.3-3" under our 400W halides (coming from 192W PC). But I've also noticed some colonies do the opposite under the halides.
I think its more of a combo of flow and light, but I couldnt tell you what did it for some zoas.

I also have some the are extended and some that are flat.. I agree with tekk and CoralNutz.. lighting has something to do with it but that's not all.. maybe flow also... I think that that's just how they are.. anyway, it's good to have a variety anyway.. :)
