So another thumbs up for pets inc. When I was in about a month ago looking for a coralife ballast I mentioned I had FWs. Andy pointed me to these blue damsels. He says.... this is what we use when we have them, I was like OOOK lol quit pulling my leg those are blue damsels. He said they are a different species, and are not aggressive and eat FWs. He was $10 took him home and he gets along GREAT with my Picasso in the 20 ADA. I have been watching closely and have seen him picking at the glass but never could actually see what he was eating. Yesterday I looked for about an hour for ANY signs of flatworms and nothing. Today same deal.. they are GONE. I had quite a few too. SWEET! Here is a pic. Anyone know what species this is?

It is a Springer's damsel. Scientific name : Chrysiptera springeri
Small damsel, characterized by the deep blue color, only stained by irregular black markings. 5 cm. Many Chrysiptera species have a blue and yellow color pattern, C. springeri is the only one completely blue. Inhabit coral-rich areas of sheltered lagoon and inshore coral reefs (Ref. 9710). Seen with similar yellow-tailed species, often on the same coral patches. Mostly found in aggregations on coastal reef slopes with low Acropora patches on sand to 30 m. Associated organisms Often associated with branching corals. Habitat: Back reef, Lagoon Distribution: Indonesia Western Pacific: Indonesia (Moluccas and Flores) and Philippines.

No problem, they are a great alternative way to treat for flatworms.

My favorite Chrysiptera is talboti. Stays small, colorful, and not very aggressive. Not sure if it will eat flatworms as well as Springer's but I would assume so they live in the same area. Always adds a nice splash of cheap color to my tanks. Only place I see them regularly is Petco for $6.

What a cool fish. I haven't had visible amounts of flatworms in a few months, but I'd still like to have one of those guys. I wonder if they'd fight with Blue-Green Chromis?
Liveaquaria has another really nice picture of the Springer's damsel. They call it a Blue Sapphire Damselfish. Here's their blurb on it: Quote:

So I was reading into these little springer damsels and they say that they might be aggressive towards other tank mates. For those of you with clowns have you seen this kind of behavior? Also do you think one will be fine in a 24g nano with two clowns and a angel fish?

They are damsels, so there is always a chance of aggression. From what I have read, they are one of the more docile of the group, but still a DAMsel :-)
The ones I have are being harrased by a larger damsel as we speak, and seem pretty peaceful. |

Chrysiptera damsels aren't very aggressive. My other damsels are much more aggressive.

Talbot's for sure is very mellow and doesn't bother anything. I have a Springer's in my 90 can't say either way because the rest of the tank is more aggressive then it is.

My Picasso and this little guy are COMPLETELY peaceful. She is VERY protective of her fav Zoas... see pic LOL and doesn't mind when he comes within mm of her. She actually bites and goes after ME when I get near them, but doesn't chase away the damsel. He is really cool.

Eat flatworms today any kill everything else tomorrow. I had these once and they destroyed tank mates so I stopped bringing them in. How is yours on aggression so far?
