Aquatic life t5

I have a 65 gallon reef tank and purchased the aquatic life t5 dual bulbs. I purchased 3 sets for a 6 bulb set and linked them together. My question is they cover the entire top of my tank and I can't access my lids without removing the entire light set. Is this a common thing or what can I do. I looked at the hanging setup but my ceiling is way too high for it. I love the lights just don't like having to remove them to get into the tank.

I have a 30" 4 bulb Aquatic T5 fixture on my 37g. I have to remove the fixture every time I do maintenance or have to access the tank. It's a small hassle but I couldn't hang the set up on the ceiling either. The only other option I can think of is to order or build a canopy and hang the fixtures from there. Some suspension hanging kits are adjustable for height.

How high is your ceiling? My ceiling is 10 foot. I have an 8 bulb ATI powermodule. I thought I wouldn't like it hanging from my ceiling also. I went ahead and hung it anyway and I like it now. It's a lot better than sitting on the tank.

Oh ok. LOL Do a search here. A lot of people have hung their lights from 2 metal angles attached to the back of the stand/tank. Something like this....

I guess that depends on the material you use for the angle pieces. I've seen others use metal pipe bent at a 90 degree angle. That would hold up quite a bit of weight without problems. Also check out the link I just posted.

Here's another pic to give you an idea how to attach whatever you make to your stand.
