transferring livestock from 29g biocube to 55g

I currently have a 29g biocube up and running. I recently purchased a 55g tank from a friend, and I want to transfer everything from my biocube to the new tank. Currently I have quite of bit of dead sand with 20lbs of live sand and 40lbs of dead rock in the tank (I also have one of my live rocks from the old tank seeding the new tank). Between the two tanks the salinity and pH is almost identical. Once my lights for the new tank arrive would it be safe to transfer the livestock from the old tank into the new as long as I transfer 90% of the old water into the new tank? I have been reading so many mixed answers to this question. I need to be set STRAIGHT!
