Faulty Tunze Magnet Holders ?

Just received 2 x Tunze 6025's and a 6045 and noticed the inner magnet holders on both the 6025's are not sealed like the inner magnet for the 6045. I'm assuming this is a factory fault and the magnets should be sealed when in contact with my tank water. Can someone confirm that the magnet holders are faulty or not please.

Tunze just informed me that they no longer seal the inner magnet holders and they are safe to use, the 6045 magnet holder is older stock - problem solved apparently.

I received two new boxes of Tunze 6095s and there is a note in six languages explaining the magnet holders may be made using magnets without full plastic coat. These magnets are made from corrosion-proof ferrite magnets. They do not have to be sealed, they are made from the same materials as the impeller drive magnet.

I have the same issue with my magnet holder, I bought Tunze Turbelle nanostream 6045. After several years magnet is corroding and because of this it can't hold the pump.

Anyone know how to fix magnet?

Thanks, I'll try to contact Roger, looks like the issue with the magnet is common for those pumps.
BTW, pump itself works great, better then other pumps I have.

Here is the photos of my magnet, as you can see on second picture the opposite to glass side is not flat anymore, and doesn't hold the pump properly.

The pump was located near the top of my tank, so I don't think any metal particles can get inside magnet from the water...

Roger, can you please advice how to solve this issue?

I cannot see the pictures, but if it is less than 2 years old it would be under warranty, more than 2 years old the replacement part 6025.512 is the current equivalent and can be ordered on Tunze.com, you could also just swap them and unclip the clamp from the inside magnet and switch the inside and outside magnets.

It is more than 2 years old. But it looks like a lot of people have the same problem...
Is new replacement is free from this defect?

You point to a lot of different problems with different versions of magnets, the sealed ones in the one link are quite old, 2006-2010, these rarely failed, but they can as can any magnet. The non sealed versions, usually have not failed, those magnets are ceramic, same ferrite material impellers are made from and the majority of claims of rusting are simply iron particles that were attracted to the magnet and rusting on the surface, it is impossible for the magnets themselves to rust. GFO is a very common source as it is rust and the dust is attracted to the magnet holder. These too can fail but only if the iron plate under the magnets is breached and even then, the result is no more dangerous than using GFO. The current version is rare earth magnets and fully sealed, I have yet to see one fail but this model has only been around since about end of 2014.

Mine is non-sealed and I never use GFO.

That is unusual, the magnet looks fine but the back is swollen, was it this way since new? One possibility is just the curing of the resin is the cause and it would have this to some degree since new, generally I would expect rust to push out the other way. I will send a PM.

No, when it was new the back was flat.
When doing regular maintenance I usually didn't detach magnets, some time ago when doing maintenance the part that holds the pump was detached from the magnet, and I noticed that magnet is not hold the pump and swollen.

Now the pump works perfectly, and magnet still can be attached to the fixture, but it can be detached without any force applied, I'm afraid that soon it will not hold the pump at all.

If you cannot reply to my PM, please email at Tunze at sbcglobal dot net. I am leaving for Germany today and won't be back on line for 2-3 days. I get back to the office on the 11th.

Roger, thanks for your support, I still thinking what is better to do in this case, maybe I can find some shipping option that will be acceptable for you and me.

Hi! Looks like I got lucky as well
My magnet has also become curved and doesn’t hold a pump anymore.
Could anyone suggest how to fix it?
