How much water are you going to need (tank size)?
Does your public water system disinfect with chlorine or chloramine? Lots of options here, including units from buckeye hydro, air water ice, brs.

I recommend the 5 stage BRS kit. That's the one I have, more specifically the 75gpd model. I make 1 gallon every 15 minutes. BRS did a video on RO/DI system during their 52 weeks of reefing series; it's a good watch.

I've had zero problems with my BRS 4 stage 75 gpd unit.
It keeps me in all the RO/DI in need for over 500 gallons of system volume.

Bulkreefsupply, airwaterice, buckeyehydro, spectrapure all make great systems..
In general any 5 stage system will do just fine for you.. Even 4 stage as I believe NY already has very clean water as it is.. One featuring an ASOV valve, dual TDS meter and a pressure gauge is certainly very nice "extras" to have.. so spring for one with those or purchase them as optional addons.. I personally have the airwaterice typhoon 3 system and am very happy with it..

I use a dual TDS meter as I initial only measured final output and have a hand held. I like the hand held as I also check pre and post softener. I also hav a whole house system and the hand held allows for checking of that.
Oh, and they aren't very expensive.

Dear OP...I would recommend a 5 stage to anyone who wants to only change their prefilters ONE time per year OR if they have chloramines. Our filter arrays are designed for the lowest pressure drop on your membrane (membranes LOVE pressure, and the more pressure you have, the higher the rejection of your membrane, thus SAVING you money on DI resin.) Let me know if you have any questions, were here for you!
