Thanks to Chris from Proline for attempting to answer the question so diplomatically. I applaud you for being so professional. But unfortunately I wanted to hear from the man who rated the skimmers. We always say that there is no standards for skimmer ratings but I would expect there to be some consistency within the same manufacturer. I still do not understand why the maker of the best skimmer on the market would spend so much time on these boards defending it and putting down other skimmer companies. Let the product speak for itself. Spend more time answering the questions of those perspective buyers looking to learn more about the skimmer instead worrying about how other companies are copying BK's innovative design. On the contrary, if you don't want "BK Fakers" out there, stop being an innovator, a leader, and a perfectionist. Consider reducing your quality standards as well. If you do these things, the "BK Fakers" will all go away. Royal Exclusiv could then even consider copying the other skimmer companies out there!

I might consider the ATB Large (1500-2250lph) over the medium though... tough call on a heavily stocked 180g... thats 'in between' IMO. My 125g is medium-heavy in stocking, and the medium is on par with it... then again, the US redos are about 20% larger now, so I think it could keep up. I think they are going with more threadwheel more too since the new bodies can take it, so the air will go up to 1200lph about, maybe more. I suppose it almost depends on what you term as 'heavy' load. To me, a heavy coral load isnt as much, since many corals clean the water. Having lots of fish means more to me, but I have lots of fish, yet its hardly 'heavy' since many are small/new. Once they grow in, then it will be 'heavy'...lol. |

Not trying to get you in trouble...LOL! You can always PM me with what you think
![]() Thanks for your write up. When I say heavily stocked, I mean "I like tangs". My last tank was a 240, and had a yellow, blue, purple, powder blue, achilles, sohal, vlamingi, naso, dussemeiri. The last 4 were between 7-12". And of course I had other, smaller fish. Haven't finalized my fish list yet, but it will be Tang-heavy again. |

Hi Greg...
I can give you a perfect answer, in German Lenguage, are you want. ![]() ![]() ![]() The Question, what is the rating for a Deluxe and a Supermarines, is very difficult to answer... i dont no, how many Fishs inside, how many is the flowrate Sump/tank.... how many LiveRock, how many food for the Fishs.... thats are important Ponts for the Skimmerrating...... You can using a 200 SM in a 1000 Gallon-tank, full with SPS-Coralls and without Fish.., the 200 SM is oversized for this tank. You have a 300 Gallon tank, with Fishsoup, the Bubble King 300 DeLuxe, is to small for this. The Royal-Exclusiv Skimmer-ratings are in the middle of that and very conserativ. regards.. Klaus |

Klaus thanks for the reply, but that is not what I am asking.
Both the BK 300 Deluxe & the BK 250 Super Marine are rated for up to 793 gallons. Is the is the cone design of the BK 250 Super Marine so efficient that it it able to skim a tank the same size as the BK 300 Deluxe? That is why I am confused.

Hi Greg
I am not sure what you are refering to as political answer. I think as why the SM skimms more wet ,this was answered even as the design differences ,Hahn chimed in as well ,so please let us know if there is anything else I can answer here. As a company we do not believe in Negative advertising ,therefore I refrain from making comments about other makes & brands or comparing them. There are many products out there ,many are great products & if you decide to go for a different brand that is what you think will serve your need ,that is great & we are happy to see you find the right product. As for RE reducing quality I do not see that happen ,there are many things to keep in mind when you comparing products ,one thing I can tell you for a fact: Asain Manufacturers have way more profit margins than any European Brand ,so if German products are more expensive it is not because they make more money out of it ,just the cost of manufacturing & also with the strength of our dollar the situation becomes worse does not matter what industry. We appreciate Klaus being present here ,however if you have any questions or inquiries about RE products we are more than capable to handle it. Last but not least as a Multinational ,multicultural Country that is founded on the very idea of respecting other people ,I don't see how it is American to flame someone for their lack of knowledge of english ,I can tell you in our city probably 20% of the population does not speak more than 10 words of english, yet we consider them good citizens & believe in them as an equal countrymen/women. What boders me the most & like to appologize for is to the owner of this thread ,sorry for the Hijack & thank you for your feedback. God Bless all Regards Chris Proline Aquatics |

The numbers only correlate to the diameter of the body. Regardless, isn't the answer an obvious yes????

It seems to me like Klaus and RE rate their skimmers based on air intake. Performance can very from system to system based on bioload, setup, and other variables including skimmer design.
Their rating system is why the Deluxe 300 and SM 250 are rated equally. I just want to make this thread an informative discussion on the Bubbleking Supermarine 250 for which there is very little actual user information to be found. I think for the most part it has been just that. Thanks to all for the questions and insight. The heart of a skimmer is the pump and the SM250 and DLX 300 have the same pump don't they. Hence the same rating.

With that fish load in a 240 (sounds like a 500g squeezed into a 240), the Medium could keep up with the threadwheel, but if it were mine, I would consider the Large a better fit, just use it with the 1500lph needlewheel rather than the threadwheel so it doesnt overskim. That way, should you decide to go larger or add more, you will be covered by simply swapping out the impeller for the threadwheel. With the Medium, you would be right at its limit I think. |
