Hardiest fish, corals, algae, etc

Hi,

I am new to reefkeeping and in setting up my tank I want to keep in mind the hardiest things to put in it (24gal) while keeping in mind I will be making an upcoming cross country move. I am interested in small polyps, mushrooms, and macroalgae. What are some of the best choices in these categories for a move?

I'd wait until you move before buying any livestock for the tank. Once you have the tank set up for at least 4 weeks for the cycle, and the water parameters are within range, then you can start your coral stocking.

Damsels are very hardy, but most are aggressive and will not get along with other fish in a small tank like yours. Clown fish are less aggressive members of the Damsel family and a good starter fish. Cockroach palys, Green star polyps, and xenia are about you hardiest corals. I swear these 3 can live and grow in fresh water (disclaimer: do not try this). as far as fish go, clowns, and damsels are some of the hardiest.

Damsels and mushrooms will survive almost anything.

If your cross country move is going to be soon, i'd spend the time reading up and getting all your equipment and planning things, rather then starting the tank. If you look at people who have moved tanks, even if it's just a 20+g tank it's still a PIA. Your better off being patient and just getting as much knowledge as possible, and once your in your new place you can set up a wonderful tank. If you really want to get going, i'd say you can start cycling and getting some life on live/dead rock.
