Question RKL setup questions ...pls assist!

I got a used RKL from a friend. I currently use it only for temperature indicator.
He also gave me a SL1 which I haven't connected.

In CH1 I have the iTemp reading from a probe in the sump. It is reading "iTemp 78.6". But when the powerstrip is turned off and on again it says "none".

When I press up/down arrows it goes like this: none, itemp:78,6, -error ,etc.

How can I ensure the temperature is always displayed even when the power goes off and comes back?

(only ch1 is ON; rest of the 3 channels are OFF)

I am new to this RKL stuff

Pls advice ...Thx ...Kris

It's been a while since I had a RKL with only one power bar but I do currently run an RKE (quite similar in most ways). Keep in mind that the Power Bar also powers the head unit so I am guessing that when you are turning it off you are in shutting off power to the whole RKL system and so it needs a few minutes to reset and find the iTemp probe. The other readouts you are seeing may be for modules that aren't connected. One of the annoying limitations of the whole Reefkeeper line is that once you have connected a module to the system, even if you remove it, it still thinks it is there and reads error until you do a full factory reset (meaning you have to program everything again). If you did not do a factory reset with only the power bar, the missing SL1 is likely the error reading and the none is for the other type of temp probe that can be attached to the SL1.

Even though the RKL is a pretty basic controller, it is still quite powerful - so you should try playing around with it and use if more more thing on your tank.

If you need more information, there is a Digital Aquatics forum on here and they have quite an extensive help forum you can get to on their web site. Once you register on their forum, you can download a copy of the manual if you don't have it.

Hope that helps.

Cheers,
K.
