RODI System Recommendations
I am looking for advice on a good system for filtering my own RODI water at home. I have a 40 gallon saltwater tank and a 10 gallon freshwater tank, so my volume needs aren't very great, but access to RODI through local aquarium stores is either highly inconvenient or expensive. I'd like a unit that is easy to set up and maintain, and preferably doesn't cost an exorbitant amount for my modest needs. I'd like to run it from the faucet of our utility sink in the basement, I think, unless that isn't a viable option.
I'd also be curious to know what type of storage containers people use to hold the RODI before adding it to their tanks. My current method of transport from aquarium stores has been 5 gallon camping water bags, and that obviously won't work at home. Thanks in advance for everyone's help! |

You will get a lot of recommendations for spectrapure or BRS. You can probably buy one on the sellers forum. I bought my 100gpd from www.purewaterclub.com and have no issues. Consistently get 0ppm.
I also store in a 32 gallon Rubbermaid trash can. I then pump into my 5 gal buckets to mix my saltwater. It ain't pretty but it's inexpensive and it works. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Also I am not a fan of doing big water changes. I have a 90 gal and do 10 gal a week.
Once I get my 10 gal mixed and heated (I have a spout drilled into my buckets) I drain into the containers in the pic- I put 2.5 gallons in each. Then I simply drain water out of my DT and pour these in. No pump. Easy work. ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I would suggest something in the 20 - 32 gallon range, Brute garbage can with a lid.
Why?, because short runs on an RO unit will have a tendency to foul the membrane. Include a flush kit with whatever unit you get. A small pump & hose to move the water from the storage can, I use a Rio.
