Thanks Jim & everyone else for your understanding & vote of confidence
Hawks ,please contact your dealer for support or contact us via email directly ,what else will also help would be specs of your system including the equipment you use & bioload .
Also picture of the sump will be great as well .
Is one thing copy & pasting the specs of the skimmer from his computer to here & another to help troubleshoot.
Never the less We are here for you.

Manual

This is something that helped me.

It is adjustable via a air/water mix adjustment valve on the inlet of the skimmer. There are corresponding dots that when alighned represent the recommended air/water mix. I have it set at that recommendation.

Kennettson1 - I don't see a drain pipe in your pics. Where does the water drain from?

There is a standpipe on this skimmer. Water exits the skimmer through that.

How does the Bubble King Supermarin 250 Internal get the same rating as the Bubble King DeLuxe 300 Internal. Is the unique design of the Supermarin more efficient than the DeLuxe? Is that why the smaller 250 mm Supermarin has the same rating as the DeLuxe 300?

Anyone listening?

gcarroll, I, too, am waiting for this answer. I am looking seriously at purchasing a BK skimmer, either the SM or Deluxe, but would like hear some replies to your question first.

Pump specs:

SM250: pulls 2L/H air and ~1068 GPH water
Deluxe 300: pulls 2L/H air and 792 GPH water

Do you think this is why they're rated similar? The SM is shorter, but has the conical interior. Perhaps this compensates for the shorter height.

Klaus replied earlier saying the Deluxe produces a better, darker skimmate and has more adjustments, but I'd like to know what mechanisms allow the Deluxe to produce this darker skimmate.

Kenettson1:

Has your skimmate gotten any darker since you posted your 1st Nog pic?

Klaus:

Is the Supermarine able to skim as dark as the Deluxe?

My skimmate has remained relatively dark. Rmember when looking at skimmate pics from BK users that the cup is white. It makes a big difference considering most other cups are black or dark grey. My skimmate has been just as gross smelling as my deltec and with a similar consistancy - visually speaking.

There was a pic on a thread that I saw where a guy poured his BK nog into an H&S cup and it looked a lot darker - just because the cup was grey.

Thanks for the update. I was curious if your skimmate got any darker because I've seen pics of skimmate from the BK Deluxe that look almost pitch black. Those have the white collection cups as well.

Hey Kennettson1, here are some pics of some Deluxe owner's skimmate. These were taken off RE's website. I'm wondering if you're able to skim this dark. Thanks!

it just depends how I skim. Its also still pretty early to really start evaluating long term performance.

That's true. You're not even 2 weeks in right? It's looking good so far. It should only get darker. Do you normally skim wet or dry?

I'm close to pulling the trigger on the SM250, but still wondering if I should go for the Deluxe.

There is always some mystery when you think about spending 2K on a skimmer, I am still waiting for someone to prove these BK's are worth the money???

THE ABOVE PICS ARE NICE.

Well, the answer to that question is completely subjective.

What you do get with a BK are most of the things you look for in a skimmer wrapped into one.
1. Skimming Performance
2. Low energy draw
3. Very low if any noise
4. High air/water flow through per amount of energy used
5. Quality Build - very detail oriented

Some skimmers offer one, two or three of those atributes, higher end skimmers including the BK account for all or most of these factors and more.

If you are just looking for something that skims regardless of other factors, there are other less expensive options. I'm not a skimmer guru so this is all just my opinion.

I've been around long enough on these boards to know that when it comes to skimmers - EVERYONE has an opinion.

@ tbone - skimming very dry but adjust a little wetter to see what I get tonight.

Paul, I have to agree with Kennettson on "what you get for 2K". It is very subjective, similar to buying a car - Honda vs. Mercedes for example. It's all about what appeals to the individual buyer.

Those pics are very nice, aren't they? There are more pics on Royal Exclusiv's website in their discussion forum. I only pulled a few of them.

Kennettson: I like your list of BK features. Those are the very things I'm looking for. Please share with us how things turn out skimming a bit wetter.

BTW, thanks for sharing your experiences with this new skimmer! It's been very informative for everyone, I'm sure

Hey T, my son was born yesterday at 1:43 p.m. Sorry for the drift guys. Carry on.

Too Fly, Congrats! I think right now Premium Aquatics and Aquarium Specialty sell them. Proline is the US distributor. I hope you can get some sleep at night so you don't look like in the morning

I wonder if there are any other SM250 owners out there to share their experiences. Too Fly, have you considered the BK Deluxe line?

Thanks man. It's been a great day! Dog tired and a little scary, but great by the end.

Too late, my eyes are buggin' outta my head as I type. ******* (speaking to self ), I should really be gettting some sleep right now.

Yeah, the 250 Deluxe Internal might be the way to go if there are any doubts on the SM. I mean, what's another 150 bucks when you're already spending $1700? I saw Reefkeeper2's 300 Deluxe Internal and that is one b@da$$ skimmer.

BTW... anyone know if it's true that the Red Dragon pumps come with a lifetime warranty?

Where'd you hear that the pumps come with lifetime warranty? That'd be sweet cuz replacing that pump on a BK skimmer will be half the skimmer cost itself!

I really wanted a Deluxe 300 Int, but no room for that. Right now, I'm looking at the SM250, Deluxe 200 Int, and Deluxe 250 Int on the BK line. Also looking at ATB medium.
