wha are the blue LED bars that all LPS have?

so all of the LPS have these LEDs that have 3 or 4 lights on them, silver bar strip, and give a really good pop to the coral... anyone know what they are and any DIYs...are they just high voltage LEDs?

Did you mean LFS? I think you are talking about Powerbrites all actinics and yes, there are plenty of DIY for LEDs but not for Powerbrites which are over-rated in my opinion. You can find much cheaper and just as effective lights on ebay.

Does this provide any PAR, is it a solution to consider to replace my 2 160 watt VHO actinics. I have see them in a store and look very vibrant but do they actually promote growth?

dguest98, if you want to go LED go FULL LED. There are great write-ups in the DIY section, but be prepared to spend a nice bit of cash!

Edit: If you want some outside links PM me and I can send them to you. They're scaled down for nano aquariums but it's the same procedure, just with more LED's and a bigger heat sink.
