BTA/Clown tank build
Well I am going to take Rhett's advice and take my time planning and getting advice instead of just jumpin in and winging it on this one. So here goes.
I am wanting to build a species tank for BTA/clowns. I want it to be totally self contained and I want to be able to connect it to SPS frag tanks on each side. I am thinking 24x30x16. I would also like to be able to topview if I get brave with the acrylic work. I plan on having a wavemaker / filtration insert. I am open to any and all comments and suggestions. A few specific questions 1. dimensions? the back 6" will be used for the insert. 2. lighting suggestions. LED, MH, T-5, other 3. algae scrubber and or chaeto for filtration well that is enough for starts thanks in advance for the advice. -bart

What are you planning on using for filtration?
It may be difficult to find a really good hang-on skimmer that could handle the load and provide pristine water for your SPS. ![]() As far as lighting goes, I think that would be up to you. Personally I'm going with DIY LEDs with my new office tank to keep heat down. I would put some more thought into the filtration if you're also wanting to do SPS tanks. I think algae scrubbers are intriguing, but I also think they're more supplemental than anything. Maybe not, though. ![]() Brandon

Gotcha. Were you planning on making one that would fit in the back section?
