Protein skimmer off: how long?

Hello!

We had a power surge, we think, and we asked our local reef guy to order a protein skimmer for us. He said not to worry, and that we could go as long as a month without one. We have a 300-gallon tank.

Does this sound like decent advice?

Way too many variables to even comment. What is the livestock? How much are you feeding? How much circulation?
I may not be the one to help with ultimate answer but those in the know, or think they know, will need more info for sure. Good luck.

You can go forever without a skimmer..Its optional equipment
